Company Profile
FS
Engineering and Plastics Ltd. traces its roots to a logo-printing machine built
by Frank Saliba at his residence, way back in 1982. The machine used to print
logos on small cylindrical plastic containers used for the packaging of herbs at
his residence.
From
that day onwards, Frank Saliba did not look back. He left his job and founded FS
Engineering and Plastics Ltd. specializing in the manufacturing of plastic
moulds. During the start-up phase of the business life-cycle, Frank invested in
an injection-moulding machine and established his business by launching the
first products: cylindrical small plastic containers and small ice-cream spoons.
As a
result, in 1990 the Company proceeded in its growing phase, where FS Engineering
and Plastics Ltd. moved to the industrial estate at the limits of Gudja. Having
bigger premises allowed the Company to employ more people and increase its range
of products. It started to attract sub-contracting jobs from other larger
Companies.
Indeed
as the Company grew in revenues and customers, it naturally increased its
employee base to support it employing 13 persons on full time basis, working on
3 shifts basis, 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week.
In 1996
FS Engineering and Plastics Ltd. moved to a far larger factory at the Industrial
Estate at Marsa. Being recognized for the quality of the products and its
professionalism, the business continued to grow, the Company invested in further
machinery to improve its product range. It also changed its strategy and started
to specialize in food plastic packaging. Once again, in 2001, the Company
continued to extend the premises to house further machinery. The employee-base
increased to 21 persons.
The
quality standards of FS Engineering and Plastics was recognized and in December
2003 the Company was awarded I.S.O. 9001-2000 certification by BVQI.
In 2005,
FS Engineering and Plastics Ltd invested in four state-of- the art injection
moulding machines. This enabled the Company to increase product-range such as
sealing containers, ice cream bowls & lids, fruit bowls & lids.
The
Company never ceased to invest in machinery, the latest one being the in-mould
labeling machine, and human resources. Presently, it employs 32 persons.
In
January 2009, FS Engineering and Plastics was once again awarded I.S.O.
9001-2008 by BVQ (formerly known as BWQI).
